A Clear Channel - Day 161

I've fallen off the wagon a bit regarding exercise and healthy eating. I was doing so well up until May. I know I have to get back on track. I think part of the problem is, I'm thinking of too many things, too many ways to exercise so I end up doing nothing or taking one class here and there. Maybe I need to just commit to one thing and one thing only. When I was driving up the coast to the beach party on Saturday I saw groups of bikers out early in all their biking regalia and I felt a longing to get on my bike again. I will always remember training for the AIDS ride back in 1995. I was in the best shape of my life. Unfortunately, I was also going through one of the roughest times in my life personally and I think that might be holding me back. I am committed to get over that and get back out there and ride!! Out of all the things I could do to get this body moving, I must say cycling is my favorite. So what's stopping me? The good thing is I'm not gaining any weight, but I'm not losing either. Being the self-help junkie that I am, I just bought a CD called What's Holding You Back? (or something like that). I'm going to check it out tonight before I go to sleep. And I think I'd better join my walking group on Saturday.
D, you are my inspiration.

  1. Thought I would share this new fitness program I am doing at a place called Easy Fitness. I just began 3 weeks ago because a lot of my girlfriends were showing up a size or two smaller after only a few months. I go to the Marina del Rey shop, but they just opened a shop in Santa Monica a couple of weeks ago. Check out their website for the specifics, but it incorporates workout and nutrition. Their motto is 'stop struggling and start losing'. I've already lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. I go 2 days a week, but I also do Pilates twice a week and I spin at YAS on Fridays. I've tried so many things for fitness that I did not stick with, but I actually enjoy Easy Fitness, and the people there are great! Just a thought......check it out! They are also on Facebook!

  2. Thanks Candace, I will check it out and join you there!! I need a workout out buddy, an accountability partner, seems like I can't do this by myself.

  3. There's a whole group of us 'baby boomer' chicks doing this program together. We don't all go at the same time, but the classes are small (4 to 6 people) and we do motivate each other. This past Saturday we all celebrated one of our team's birthdays at the yacht club and all bets were off. We drank wine, but we did not eat too badly. Here's the thing, once you change your eating habits for about 60 days it is actually hard to go back. We all made a pact that we will have one day a week where we don't worry about what we're eating, then we are good the other 6 days. At our age none of us are willing to totally give up a little fun, so one day a week seems to be working. If you want a workout buddy and accountability, I'm there for you. You're right, can't do it by yourself, and besides, why would you want to!

  4. OK, looks like I need to pay them a visit. And you and I need to do lunch at Buddha's so I can check out that comfy shoe store across the street and the new mall. Call me!
